PRINCETON, NJ - After dropping a heartbreaking decision to Princeton in their second game of the tournament, the Bears fell to Hartwick in another tight contest in semi-final action, losing 6-5 in overtime.
Offensively, Brown had five different goal scorers as seniors Melissa Iagulli and Julie Williams, juniors Jackie Parente and Sonia Lamel, and sophomore Diana Livermore each netted one goal. Defensively, Brown was led by junior Jeanie Ward-Waller, who drew three ejections and notched two steals. In addition, Iagulli and Livermore each drew one ejection, while Williams earned two steals. In net, junior Keira Heggie stopped 15 shots.
Brown then faced Harvard in the third-place game and defeated the Crimson, 6-2, outscoring Harvard 5-1 in the second half. Senior Tori Barbata led Brown with four goals, while Iagulli added two. In net, Heggie stopped nine shots in the first half, while freshman Katherine Cummings made two saves in the second half.
Brown continues action next weekend in the 2003 Northern Championships, Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13, which are hosted by Brown, in the Smith Swim Center, this year.
