PROVIDENCE, RI - The women's water polo team (14-5) picked up wins over Bucknell (11-5) and #16 Princeton (6-1) on Saturday afternoon to advance to the championship game of the 2004 ECAC Championship. Brown will face #14 Hartwick at 12:15 on Sunday in the deciding game.
Against Bucknell, Brown was led by four different players, each with two goals, including freshmen Claire Angyal (Sydney, Australia) and Paige Lansing (Newport Beach, CA), junior Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA), and senior Sonia Lamel (Lafayette, CA). Brown also received goals from senior Lauren McGeoch (Cupertino, CA), sophomore Allison Biner (Moraga, CA), and senior Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA). Livermore also led Brown with five steals, while senior Jeanie Ward-Waller (San Antonio, TX) drew three ejections. In net for Brown, senior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) posted seven saves for the win.
In their next game, the Bears faced #16 Princeton, and were led by outstanding team defense, led by a 14-save performance from Heggie to go along with five steals. Lamel, Livermore, and Ward-Waller each added two steals to help Brown. Offensively, the Bears were led by Lansing with two goals. Livermore, Biner, Parente and Lamel all added one goal for the 6-1 win.
