San Diego, CA - The women's water polo team, ranked 18th in the country, fell to 6-3 on the season with an 11-6 loss to #6 San Diego State University. Junior Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA) led the Bears with three goals.
The Bears gained a 3-2 lead in the first quarter of competition, but failed to scored in the second quarter, allowing two Aztec goals, as SDSU held onto a 4-3 lead at the half. However, the Aztecs outscored the Bears by a 7-3 margin to close out the game and earn the 11-6 win.
Also scoring for Brown were senior Melissa Iagulli (Walnut Creek, CA), senior Julie Williams (Berkeley, CA), and freshman Jamie Relth (Carlsbad, CA). Junior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) played strong in net, making nine saves for the Bears.
Brown continues action on March 24, when the Bears take on Redlands at 2:30 p.m. in California.
