Lewisburg, PA - Behind senior Diana Livermore's (Menlo Park, CA) five goals the Bears finished the first day of the ECAC Championships beating host Bucknell 6-4, but losing to Hartwick 13-8 later on in the day.
In the 6-4, victory over Bucknell, Brown started out strong, scoring on their first three possessions to jump out to a quick 3-1, lead after the first quarter. Sophomore Elizabeth Balassone (Los Altos, CA) got the Bears going scoring the first goal of the game, in Brown's three goal first quarter. Livermore got her first goal of the day on a two meter shot that put the Bear's up by two. Sophomores Claire Angyal (Sydney, AUS) and Paige Lansing (Newport Beach, CA) each added two goals a piece to round out Brown's scoring. Freshman Ally Wyatt (Ann Arbor, MI) dished out two assists while sophomore Caitlin Fahey (Seattle, WA) had four steals defensively for the Bears. In net freshman Anne Deggelman (Menlo Park, CA) recorded nine saves in the win.
In the second game of the day for Brown, the Bears came out strong grabbing a 2-0, lead on two of Livermore's four goals in the match-up. Hartwick quickly countered, tying the game at two, after the first seven minutes and then going on a four goal run in the second quarter, for a 7-3 halftime lead. The Bears were unable to recover from the four goal run in the second quarter, only getting as close as 9-7, midway through the third quarter before Hartwick took over. Also scoring for the Bears was Wyatt who netted two while Angyal and Balassone each tallied one goal in the loss. Livermore also drew five ejections in the match-up. Deggelman finished the game with ten saves in the net for Brown.
The Bears will face Harvard Sunday, April 3, in the third place game of the championships at 12:00. The two squads met have met two other times this season each winning one, having Brown win the last game, 6-4, March 6 in Cambridge, MA.
