Santa Barbara, CA - The women's water polo (1-6) team went 0-2 in the first day of the Gaucho Invitational, as they fell to the #1 USC Trojans 17-4 and #8 Arizona State 11-3.
In their first game of the day the Bears had their work cut out for them as the Trojans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Junior Paige Lansing led the Bears offensively tallying three goals in the loss, including two first quarter goals. Freshman Alexandra Ferguson netted Brown's fourth goal just as time expired for the 17-4 final. Sophomore Anne Deggelman finished the match-up with two blocks in net for Brown.
In their second match of the day Brown did not fair any better as Arizona State was able to come back early from two down to grab a 4-2 halftime lead. Junior Karylanna Kopra netted two goals while Lansing recorded one. Deggelman recorded ten blocks in goal for Brown.
The Bears will return to action tomorrow morning at 10:15 a.m. PT when they face Michigan.
