Women's Water Polo Goes 1-1, in Second Day Of Competition At Princeton Invitational

Princeton, NJ - The women's water polo team (2-2) closed out the Princeton Invitational beating George Washington 10-3, but falling to host Princeton 8-4, in the finally day of competition.

In their first game of the day Brown recorded 3-2, 4-0, 3-1 and 0-0 quarter scores, outscoring George Washington three of the four seven minute periods. Sophomores Caitlin Fahey (Seattle, WA) and Paige Lansing (Newport Beach, CA) led the Bears netting three goals a piece while classmate Elzabeth Balassone (Los Altos, CA) recorded two goals. Senior Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA) and freshman Roxanne Palmer (Los Alamitos, CA) finished the game with one goal each.

Defensively freshman Anne Deggelman (Menlo Park, CA) recorded six blocks in net for Brown including a 4mm penalty shot, preserving the victory for the Bears. Balassone recorded three steals while junior Alison Biner (Moraga, CA), sophomore Karlyanna Kopra (Kamuela, HI) and freshman Alexis Blaxberg (Miami, FL) each tallied two steals in the victory.

In the second match of the afternoon the Bears could not over come the 4-2, halftime deficiet to Princeton. Livermore led Brown offensively in the game netting two goals and drew three ejections. Balassone netted Brown's other two goals and drew two ejections in the loss while Blaxberg drew three ejections. Deggelman patrolled the net for the Bears stopping eight shots.

Brown will return to action March 5th when they travel to Harvard to take on Connecticut College for a 5:00 match.
