ONEONTA, N.Y. – Junior Jessica Heilman scored six goals to lead Brown University women's water polo to a 17-10 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn in its final game at the Hartwick Invitational on Sunday morning at Moyer Pool.
The Bears (7-1) outscored the Terriers (1-10), 10-2, over the second and third quarters to turn a 4-4 tie after the first quarter into a 14-6 advantage heading into the fourth frame.
Crowley dished out a team-high six assists while Atwell tacked on three helpers. Rosas led the team with four steals as Brown totaled 15 steals as a team.
In the cage, freshman goalie Lauren Burns (Long Grove, Ill.) stopped six shots in the win.
The Bears and Terriers traded goals in the first quarter with the two sides emerging level at 4-4 after the first frame. Crowley netted two goals just 19 seconds apart in the period while Heilman and Rosas each scored once.
Brown outscored St. Francis 5-0 in the second quarter to pull ahead 9-4 at the intermission. Kolokotronis and Heilman each found the back of the net twice in the stanza, and Crowley closed the half's scoring.
Opening the second half, Rosas scored twice and Heilman and Atwell each scored once in a 4-1 run that put Brown up 13-5 with 2:38 left in the third quarter. A goal from Heilman kept the Bears ahead 14-6 heading to the fourth.
Woo, Rosas, and Heilman each converted in the final frame to maintain the edge.
Next, Brown hosts Connecticut College on Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in its first home game at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center since Feb. 5.
