Women’s Water Polo Drops 18-3 Decision to No. 6 Michigan

PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Jessica Heilman scored two goals as Brown University women's water polo dropped an 18-3 decision to No. 6 Michigan at Princeton University's DeNunzio Pool on Sunday afternoon in its CWPA regular season finale.

In their final varsity competition of the regular season, the Bears (9-23, 1-6 CWPA) fell to the Wolverines (26-6, 7-0 CWPA) who won the CWPA regular season title and extended their current win streak to 10 games with the victory.

The game marked Brown's 17th contest vs. a ranked opponent – and sixth tilt against a top-10 foe – through 32 matches this season.

Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) added two ejections drawn to her performance while freshman McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) netted one goal. Senior Victoria Pierotti (Newport Beach, Calif.) registered an assist and two steals.

Senior Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and freshman Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) each picked up two steals while freshman Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) drew three ejections. In net, sophomore goalie Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) made five saves in one half of play.

Michigan opened the game with a 3-0 lead before Heilman cut the margin to 3-1. The Wolverines led 4-1 after one quarter and held an 8-1 edge at halftime.

Trailing 10-1, Heilman and Miller each scored once in between a Michigan tally to make the score 11-3. The Wolverines pulled ahead 14-3 at the end of the third and scored all four of the final frame's markers.

Next, Brown plays a pair of exhibitions on Saturday, April 23 vs. Boston Metro (8 a.m.) and NYAC (11:30 a.m.) before competing in the CWPA Championship at Harvard from April 29 to May 1.
