Dakan Leads Water Polo Club Team to Junior Olympics Gold, Earns MVP Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – Brown women's water polo incoming freshman goalie Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) was dubbed the 2014 Junior Olympics Session 2 Most Valuable Player for the 18 Girls group after leading the Rose Bowl club team to first place in the Platinum division at Stanford University last week.
Dakan helped Rose Bowl go unbeaten over seven games in the tournament, outscoring opponents by a 79-23 margin. Rose Bowl opened with a commanding 18-0 shutout of Moose Water Polo Club on July 31 before stifling Set Pink, 16-1, later in the day. The next day, Rose Bowl took care of the Gulliver Riptides, 13-4, and squeaked out a tight 4-3 win over Santa Barbara. A 9-5 decision over Set on August 2 preceded the final day of action, which saw Rose Bowl defeat SoCal Black, 11-7, leading to an 8-3 victory over San Diego Shores to capture the championship.
