BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – For the third time this season, Brown women's water polo senior Kate Woods (La Jolla, Calif.) was tabbed the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday. Woods was an integral part of the Bears' run to the CWPA Southern Division title game this past weekend.
Woods averaged 2.0 goals and 2.5 steal per game last weekend, helping Brown earn second place at the CWPA Southern Division Championships. She scored twice and grabbed six steals in a 14-5 opening round win over Mercyhurst and followed with four goals and two assists against Bucknell to send the Bears to the CWPA Southern Division title game for the third year in a row.
Woods and the fifth-seeded Bears open up CWPA Championship play on Friday, April 25, against fourth-seeded Michigan at 12 p.m. The tournament, hosted by Bucknell, will be broadcast live with pay-per-view video.
