PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Two members of the Brown women's water polo team have been named to the 2013 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American team. Rising junior Madison Pepper (Baytown, TX) and rising senior Kate Woods (La Jolla, CA) both earned honorable mention accolades for their performances during the 2013 season, making their first appearance on the ACWPC All-American roster.
Pepper, the Bears' leading scorer with 78 goals, is a two-time CWPA Southern Division All-Conference first team selection. A driving force behind the Brown's offensive play, she also ranked sixth on the team with 20 assists. On the defensive side of the ball, she made 43 steals, putting her fourth on the team. She also ranked second in ejections drawn, registering 41 during the 2013 season. Pepper was the team's leading scorer in 11 different contests, contributing a season-high five goals on four different occasions, including a 16-12 win over Harvard in the CWPA Southern Division Championships on April 13th.
Woods, a three-time CWPA Southern Division All-Conference first team selection, ranked second on the team in scoring for the 2013 season with 59 goals and was the team leader in assists, doling out 71 helpers over the course of the season. Defensively she had 93 steals, also a team high. Additionally, her 39 ejections drawn put her third on the team. She was the Bears' leading scorer in 11 games, notching five goals on two separate occasions, including an 18-9 win over Harvard in the fifth place game of the CWPA Eastern Championships on April 28.
