Providence, RI- Brown water polo coach Felix Mercado, the 2012 CWPA women's water polo Southern Division Coach of the Year, has added five newcomers to the 2013 women's water polo roster. Emma Dodd (Pasadena, CA), Victoria Pierotti (Newport, CA), Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, CA), Elizabeth Bolton (Coral Gables, FL) and Ally Hay (Greenwich, CT) will join a Brown team that finished 21-17 record last season and finished second in the CWPA's Southern Division. The 2013 squad will compete in their new pool, the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center that opened in April 2012.
"These five talented athletes will add more depth to our team and we are hoping to continue to improve as a program and compete at the highest level," said Mercado.
Emma Dodd 5'3 Attacker from Pasadena CA, Pasadena High School
Emma Dodd was a four-year varsity water polo player and swimmer for Pasadena High School. For water polo she earned All-Pacific League and All-CIF team selection in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She was selected for the Pasadena Star News All Area Team in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She was named captain for both water polo and swim team in 2012. She played for the Rose Bowl Water Polo Club where her team won the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics Gold Bracket in 2010 and she was selected First Team All‐American. She played in the US Club Championships in 2010 and 2012. She was a USAWP Academic All-American 2010, 2011, 2012. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholastic Federation throughout high school.
Victoria Pierotti 5'8 Center Defender Newport CA, Corona Del Mar High School
Victoria Pierotti was a four year member and two year varsity player on Corona del Mar High School, and was a starter and team captain her senior year. She earned third Team Division I All-CIF Honors in 2012 and was an Academic All-American in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 she received the Varsity Coach's Award. Her team won the California High School State Championships, the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, the Hawaiian Invitational Tournament, and were Runners Up for Division I CIF in their 2011/2012 season. In 2010, Victoria helped her team to 5th place in the 16 and under Junior Olympics, and in ninth place in the 18 and under division in 2011. Victoria was a four year member of Corona del Mar's swim team, and received the Coach's Award in 2010. In 2012 Victoria also played for SoCal water polo club team who got first place in the Cal Cup
Olivia Santiago 5'9 Utility from Los Altos CA, Los Altos High School
Olivia Santiago played on the Los Altos High School Varsity team for four years and served as a starter for three years. In her senior year, she brought her team to the CIF CCS Division II Finals for the first time in her school's history. Prior to her school's record finish this past year, she competed with her team in the CCS Division I and II semi-finals (2008-2010) and made the All-CCS Girls' Water Polo Division II Second Team in 2010 and Honorable Mention in 2009. In the 2011 high school season, Santiago earned fourth team for the KAI CAL-HI All-American Team, First Team for the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, First Team for the San Jose Mercury News, First Team All-CCS Division II, and was honored as Los Altos High School's Athlete of the Year. At a club level, Olivia has been a member of Stanford Water Polo Club for 6 years, and will be participating in her sixth National Junior Olympics and fourth USA Club Championships with the club this summer. Santiago was also an athlete on the Olympic Development Team that won second place at the ODP Northern Regional Championships in 2010 and 2011. She was selected to the Top 20 All-Region Team both years of her ODP career and advanced to the National Team Selection Camps. In 2010, Olivia was a member of the USA Women's Youth National Training Team.
Elizabeth Bolton 5'4 Attacker Coral Gables, FL, Ransom Everglades High School
Elizabeth Bolton has played Water Polo for seven years. She was on the Ransom Everglades Varsity Water Polo team, which won four State Championships. She was named team co-captain in 2011. She was also a member the Girls Varsity Swim Team and named Captain her Senior Year.
Ally Hay 5'6 Attacker Greenwich CT, Greenwich High School
Alexandra Hay (Ally) has been a member of the Greenwich Water Polo, Speedo Cup, Northeast Zone, and YMCA Junior Olympic Teams. She helped lead the YMCA team to a Gold and Bronze award in the Gold Division of Junior Olympics. She has served the Greenwich High School Girls Water Polo and Swim Team for four years. Ally was a Captain in 2012 of the Greenwich High School Girls Water Polo Team. She was named 2011 NISA High School All-American and USA Water Polo Academic All-American Outstanding Achiever in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Recently, she was named Greenwich High School's Scholar Athlete 2012 by FCIACS.
