Water Polo Drops Heartbreaker to No. 13 Princeton

Providence, RI- The Brown University women's water polo team fell 7-6 to No. 13 Princeton in the semifinals of the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship hosted at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center this evening.

The Bears dominated the Tigers in the first quarter and sprinted out to a 3-1 lead after the first eight minutes.

Bruno continued to roll in the second to gain a 5-2 advantage by halftime. However, the Tigers roared back and shut down the Bears in the third quarter, 3-0, to even the score at 5-5.

It looked as though the Bears would come away with the victory when the team led 6-5 in the final few seconds of regulation, but Princeton tallied a goal just as the clock saw zero to send the game into overtime.

Princeton got one past Evan Cranston in goal, and shut down the Bears in the final overtime period to steal the win.

Madison Pepper led the attack with two goals, while Emily McNamara, Samantha Ryu and Brittany Westerman each added one. Cranston picked up seven saves in the game.

Princeton's leading scorer was Camille Hooks with three, while Taylor Dunstan, Katie Rigler and Saranna Soroka added one. Goalkeeper Kristen Ward picked up six saves in the cage.
