Brown University to Host CWPA Eastern Water Polo Championship

Brown University to Host CWPA Eastern Water Polo Championship

Providence, R.I.- Brown University will host the Collegiate Water Polo Association's (CWPA) Eastern Championship at the newly constructed Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center starting on Friday, April 27 and ending on Sunday, April 29. It will mark the first major event in Brown's new 56-meter aquatics facility.

The 12-team championship features the host Bears, Princeton, George Washington, Bucknell, Harvard, Notre Dame College (Ohio), Maryland, Gannon, Hartwick, Indiana, Mercyhurst and Michigan. The winner of the Eastern Championship will represent the league at the NCAA Tournament on May 11-13 at San Diego State University.

General admission for the championship is $25 for a tournament pass and $10 for a day pass. Students, faculty and staff at Brown with a valid student/faculty ID will gain admission for free.

The CWPA will be offering video streaming of the championship tournament. Unlike previous seasons, the league has invested in the purchase of a TriCaster, a professional video switcher that will allow the CWPA to use a three-camera feed, which will make for a better broadcast.

Fans can access the broadcast by clicking HERE and registering. The cost of viewership is $9.99 per game, or $25 for the weekend championship package that includes all the contested games.

The Bears, receiving the sixth seed in the tournament, will play Gannon at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 27. The winner of the game will advance to the 6:20 p.m. game against third-seeded Indiana.
