Providence, RI- Brown University freshman Kate Woods was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Rookie of the Year and was a First Team All-South selection, and senior Joanna Wohlmuth earned Second Team All-South honors in an announcement made by the league office.
Woods has had an outstanding rookie season for the Bears heading into the Eastern Championship scoring 86 goals. This past weekend, Woods 14 goals to end her season with 100 goals, the most any Brown freshman has ever scored in a single season. Woods was a six-time weekly award winner in the CWPA during the 2011 campaign, as she notched the April 4 and April 25 Southern Division Player of the Week prizes, along with the Feb. 28, March 28, April 18 and April 25 Southern Division Rookie of the Week awards.
Wohlmuth earned notice for the second year in a row after picking up 2010 All-North First Team honors. Wohlmuth headed into the weekend with 30 goals scored and a team-lead 84 ejections drawn. This past weekend at Easterns, Wohlmuth notched 10 goals to end her season with 40 overall, and added 16 ejections drawn to end the year with 100.
