Providence, RI- Brown University freshman Kate Woods posted 20 goals, handed out three assists, tallied six steals and posted 10 ejections drawn to lead the women's water polo team against five nationally-ranked opponents in California and earn CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week honors.
The honor marks the third time Woods has earned a weekly award from the CWPA league office this season, as she previous notched the February 28 and March 28 Rookie of the Week awards.
Facing No. 9 Arizona State University (15-5 L), No. 11 San Diego State University (17-6 L), No. 14 University of California-Santa Barbara (12-5 L), No. 20 University of California-San Diego (11-9 L), Fresno Pacific University (8-6 W) and Division III No. 4-ranked California Lutheran University (12-11 W OT), she recorded five hat-tricks or better to key the Bears' offense.
She led the team with three goals and an ejection drawn versus UC-Santa Barbara, tallied five goals and two steals against Cal Luthteran and tacked on five goals with an ejection drawn in a two-goal defeat at the hands of UC-San Diego. Following a three goal, one steal performance against San Diego State, she wrapped up the Golden State swing with five goals versus Fresno Pacific, including three steals and an ejection drawn, before chipping in two ejections drawn against Arizona State.
