Thousand Oaks, CA- Freshman Kate Woods scored 2:23 into the second overtime to lift the Brown University women's water polo team to a 12-11 victory over the Cal Lutheran Regals on Wednesday evening.
The Bears jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the first eight minutes of play, and extended it to 8-4 at the intermission. However, the Regals were able to outscore the Bears 4-3 in the third and 3-0 in the fourth to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, neither team was able to score in the first overtime, but Woods' was able to score the golden goal for the Bears in the second to lift the Bears to a 12-11 win.
Woods and Katharine Booher led the Bears in scoring with four goals apiece, while senior Joanna Wohlmuth and Emily McNamara added two each. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Shin picked up one save in the cage.
The Bears are back in action on April 1 against San Diego State and UC San Diego.
