Brown University's Sarah Glick (Sr., Bonita, Calif./Bonita Vista) posted six goals, eight steals, three steals and two ejections-drawn as the Bears clinched an automatic berth to the Eastern Championship. For her performance, Glick earned the Women's Varsity Northern Division Player of the Week award. Laing earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades after she tallied 46 saves in three games for an average of 15.33 saves per game.
Glick tallied three goals, two assists, two steals and two ejections drawn in a 7-6 overtime loss at Harvard University before contributing a goal, three assists and a steal in a 12-9 loss to No. 11-nationally ranked and Northern Division champion Hartwick College.
Her best game of the week came at Wheaton College on Brown's Senior Day as she tacked on five goals and three assists to her season totals to power the Bears past Harvard 14-10. The victory pulled the Bears even with Harvard at 1-3 in Northern Division play and gave Brown an automatic berth to the 2010 Eastern Championship at the University of Maryland on April 30-May 2 based on goal differential.
Glick ranks as the all-time leader in points in a season and a career at Brown as her 82 goals and 72 assists this season have raised her career totals to 282 goals and 257 assists.
In a 1-2 week for the Bears, Laing set a school-record with 24 saves in a 7-6 overtime loss at Harvard University before stopping 16 shots in a 12-9 overtime loss to Hartwick College. Her most influential performance of the week came when she was called on to record the fewest saves as she made six stops in a 14-10 victory over Harvard at Wheaton College to clinch the runner-up spot and the second-of-two automatic berths from the Northern Division to the 2010 Eastern Championship at the University of Maryland.
The award marks Laing's sixth Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week nod and the ninth weekly award from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) in her career. A three-time Northern Division Player of the Week (February 16 & April 27, 2009; March 19, 2007), she previously garnered the Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award on February 22, March 1, March 8, March 29 and April 5.
