Brown and Penn To Face Off In Ivy League Playoff Match
Nov. 19, 2001
As Penn defeated Yale on Sunday afternoon, the Quakers would force a playoff between Brown and Penn, to determine the Ivy League team that would go to the 2001 NCAA Division I Tournament.
The playoff match is set for Tuesday, November 20 at 6:00pm. The match will be held at Yale University in New Haven, CT, as Ivy League rules articulate that playoff matches must take place at a neutral site.
Early West Coast Trip
The Brown Bears traveled to California in early September to participate in the University of San Diego Tournament. Despite dropping three of the team's four matches in the tournament, the Bears gained valuable experience playing against the competition, which has paid off for the team in the latter half of the season.
On A Roll
Brown ended the season, winning seven of its last eight matches. After dropping a 3-1 decision to Penn on October 20 at Philadelphia, the Bears bounced back to win their next five straight matches.
On the Home Court
Brown finished the 2001 regular season with a 9-2 overall home record. The Bears were undefeated at home against Ivy opponents, posting a 7-0 final record. At neutral sites, Brown is 3-3 on the season, while away the team posts a 4-5 record.
Brown's three seniors were honored this past weekend. Corre Myer, Laura Wells, and Miranda Turner were each recognized at the conclusion of the Princeton match on Saturday November 17 for their four year commitment to the volleyball program and Brown's athletic department.
