Providence, RI - Brown outside hitter Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday. Toman was the Bears' top hitter last weekend, leading the team with 4.11 kills per game on a .255 hitting percentage.
On Friday night in Brown's 3-2 loss to Cornell, Toman had 21 kills and 10 digs, the former being a match high. She tied for the match high with 16 kills on Saturday against Harvard, icing the win for the Bears with the last three kills in a 31-29 fourth game victory.
For the season, Toman leads Brown with 3.54 kills per game, and her .174 hitting percentage is first for the Bears' outside hitters. She has also contributed 1.84 digs per game. In Ivy play, she is eighth in the League with 3.51 kills per game and eighth with 0.43 service aces per game.
This is the fourth time a Brown freshman has won Rookie of the Week this season. Toman was given the honor on September 11 after the season's first week, and middle blocker Danielle Vaughan (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) won the award on October 2 and October 23.
