Providence, RI - Brown freshman middle blocker Danielle Vaughan (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week for her performance against Rhode Island and Yale last week. Vaughan led the Bears with 1.67 blocks per game and a .393 hitting percentage.
On Saturday in Brown's Ivy opener against Yale, Vaughan tied Brown's mark for the fifth-best blocks-per-game average in a match, finishing with seven stops in three games. She tied for the team high with eight kills in that contest, making just two errors in 14 chances to finish with a match-high .429 hitting percentage. On Wednesday, Vaughan had six kills, three blocks, and three service aces in the Bears' 3-0 win over URI.
For the season, Vaughan leads Brown with a .274 hitting percentage and 39 blocks, averaging an even 1.00 per game. Vaughan is Brown's second Rookie of the Week this season, joining outside hitter Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA), who was so honored on Sept. 11.
