Megan Toman Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

Sept. 11, 2007

Providence, RI - Brown freshman outside hitter Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at the Hurricane Invitational this past weekend. Toman led the Bears with 3.64 kills per game at the tournament, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In her debut, Toman took little time to adjust to the college game, notching a double-double with 17 kills and 20 digs in four games against Delaware. She also led the Bears in kills against both Miami (nine in three games) and Loyola (14 in four games). While leading the Bears in kills in all three matches, she finished third on the squad with 3.00 digs per game.

In addition to Toman, senior captain Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) was named to this week's Honor Roll. Lapinski was her usual steady self on the back line, leading the team with 6.36 digs per game. Her best performance came against the Bears' toughest opponent, Miami, as the senior captain dug 24 balls in three games. Lapinski also opened the season with 29 digs in four games against Delaware on Friday night.
