New Haven, CT - Senior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) led the Bears defensively with 42 digs in tonight's, 3-2 loss to Yale.
The Bears found themselves down by two games losing the first and second match, 30-20. Brown (8-17, 5-9) regrouped and defeated the Bulldogs in game three and four, 30-19, 30-28 to force a decisive game five. In game five, the Bears found themselves down once again but fought back on three occasions before finally falling to Yale.
Offensively freshman Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) and sophomore Shawn Tulac (Calremont, CA) turned in their best performance of the season in tonight's match. Mandolini-Trummel posted 15 kills earning a .464 hitting percentage and recorded six blocks defensively while Tulac had a team high 22 kills and two blocks for Brown. Junior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) finished the season with 14 kills. Classmate Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) recorded her eleventh double-double of the season, posting 63 assists and 17 digs in the match.
Behind Kung defensively freshmen Rachel Lipman (San Diego, CA) and Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) also notched double digit digs finishing with 18 and 13. Senior Tanya Rinderknecht (Sancarlos, CA) finished her Brown career also in tonight's match and turned in 11 digs in the loss.
