With only four games left in the regular season, the Bears entered tonight's matchup with Columbia, knowing that every win counts. The Bears have set lofty team goals, and envision another Ivy League Title returning to the Brown Volleyball program. Against Columbia, the Bears came out slow, but gradually improved on the night, recording a team .476 hitting percentage in the fifth and final game.
Four Bears posted double-doubles, with sophomore Diane Schneider (Saratoga, CA) leading the way. Schneider pounded home 22 kills in the match. She also performed well defensively, recording 16 digs and 4 blocks on the night. Angela Dunn (Katy, TX) tallied 17 kills and 18 digs. Dunn hit for 17 kills on 32 attempts for a .344 hitting percentage.
Last week's Ivy League Player of the Week, junior Ceneca Calvert (Irvine, CA), posted 17 kills and 16 digs. Senior Corre Myer (Corona del Mar, CA) totaled 69 assists and 10 digs. Junior Jessie Cooper (Tustin, CA) hit for 15 kills and recorded 3 blocks.
The Bears improve to 14-9 in 2001 and 9-2 in the Ivy League. Brown returns to action on Saturday, November 10 for a 4:00pm contest at Cornell.
