Volleyball Gets Second Win of The Weekend, Beating Harvard 3-1

Providence, RI - The volleyball team (6-10, 3-2) bounced back from a 30-28 game one loss, to take the next three from the Crimson, 30-18, 33-31, and 30-26, for the 3-1, match victory. In another balanced attack for the Bears, senior setter Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) recorded 65 assists and 13 digs on the defensive side, for her third consecutive double-double.
With game point in favor of the Bears in game four, Martin set senior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) to the right, where Gibbs slammed down the winning kill, giving Brown the game four 30-26 victory and their third match victory in as many games. Gibbs finished the match with 14 kills. Sophomore Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Freelton, ONT) led the Brown hitters with 17 kills, while juniors Shawn Tulac (Claremont, CA) and Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) each posted 14 kills in the win. Junior Jessica Kondrick (San Jose, CA) also got into the action offensively, accounting for 10 kills.
Defensively, sophomore Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) recorded 19 digs, while sophomore Lizzie Laundy (Evanston, IL) tallied 13 and junior Victoria Kasten (Norwalk, OH) finished with 12. Mandolini-Trummel had a game ending block in the 33-31 game three victory, swinging all the momentum Brown's way as they headed into game four.
The Bears will travel to Princeton on Friday, October 21 when they face the Tigers for a 7:00 PM, Ivy League match-up.
