Volleyball Toppled By Cornell, 3-0

Providence, RI - The volleyball team (5-10, 2-2) was swept in three straight sets by the Big Red of Cornell this evening at the Pizzitola Center, by scores of 30-23, 30-28, 30-26, in favor of Cornell.

Offensively sophomore Liz Cvitan (Malibu, CA) controlled the net for Brown putting down 11 kills, posting a .233 hitting percentage and getting three blocks defensively. Junior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) recorded 13 kills while sophomore Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) tallied 15. Junior Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) directed the offense with 54 assists.

With 21 digs in tonight's match, senior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) moved into fifth place for Brown's most digs in a season. Kung currently has 397 digs this season. Also getting double digit digs was freshman Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) with 16 and senior Tanya Rinderknecht (Sancarlos, CA) finishing with ten.

The Bears look to rebound from tonight's loss when they will face Columbia, tomorrow October 16, at the Pizzitola Center for a 4:00 match.
