Princeton, NJ - Outside hitter Moira Gallagher (Tulsa, OK) quadrupled her season total for kills, finishing the match with 16, as the Brown volleyball team (2-13, 0-5 Ivy) lost to Princeton (13-3, 5-0) in four games, 30-24, 27-30, 30-19, 30-21. The sophomore finished with a .316 hitting percentage, helping to spark the Bears to their win in game two.
After dropping game one, the Bears stayed with the Tigers throughout the second game, out-hitting their hosts .357 to .244. Gallagher had eight kills in the game, including two after the game was tied 26-26, when the Bears took four of five points. However, Princeton recovered quickly, hitting .629 in the third game and holding the Bears to just .043 in the fourth to close out the win.
Gallagher's 16 kills, which tied her career high, led the Bears, with freshman right-side hitter Brianna Williamson (Cincinnati, OH) right behind with 14, while adding four block assists. Junior setter Natalie Meyers (Seal Beach, CA) had 50 assists, and freshman outside hitter Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) had 10 kills to go with four service aces. Senior libero Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) led the Bears with 19 digs.
The match ended a string of six straight road contests for Brown. The Bears have seven home matches and just two road contests remaining, with Columbia and Cornell coming to the Pizzitola Center next weekend.
