Volleyball Dominates Providence In Latest Victory

Providence, RI - The Brown volleyball team (4-8, 1-0) defeated cross-town rival Providence College (4-12), 3-0, this evening. Game scores were 30-21, 30-14 and 30-20.
Led by sophomore Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) who had 13 kills and 12 digs while junior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) posted nine kills and three blocks, the Bears cruised to a 30-14 win in the second game on a .361 hitting percentage to Providence's .000. Sophomore Liz Cvitan (Malibu, CA) earned a .583 hitting percentage with seven kills and no errors on 12 attempts.
On defense, senior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) continues to show why she leads the nation in digs, tallying a match high 16. Freshman Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) has become a huge force at the net for Brown, blocking five of Providence's attacking attempts.
Junior Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) had 31 of the Bears' 38 assists.
Brown will return home Friday, October 8, for an Ivy League match against Princeton at 7:00.
