New Haven, CT - The Brown volleyball team dropped its second Ivy League match in as many days Saturday, falling to Yale, 3-0. After losing the first two games, 30-16 and 30-17, the Bears nearly rallied to take the third game before finally falling 30-28.
The third-game rally was sparked by junior setter Alanna McDonald (Seattle, WA), who had 14 of her 15 assists in the frame. The game stayed close for its entirety, with no lead exceeding four points. However, with the game tied at 28-28, the Bulldogs took the final two points to sweep the match.
Offensively, the Bears were led by senior Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX), who had 12 kills, and junior Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL), who had eight kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Sophomore Lyndse Yess (Eugene, OR) led all players with 15 digs, followed by senior Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) with 14 and junior Rachel Lipman (San Diego, CA) with 10.
The Bears play their final non-conference match on Tuesday at the Pizzitola Center against Providence College at 7 p.m. They will follow that with two more Ivy League contests at home, against Cornell and Columbia, on Friday and Saturday.
