Volleyball Finishes 1-2 At The End of The UCONN Invitational

On Friday, in the first matchup, Brown fell to Northeastern in four games, but came back to win the second match of the day, versus St. Peter's College. Saturday, Brown battled the Huskies of Connecticut, but suffered defeat to the host team.

In the first contest, the Bears dropped a four game match to Northeastern, 3-1 (30-21, 21-30, 30-19, 30-27). Sophomore Diane Schneider totaled 13 kills and 16 digs in the match, while junior Jessie Cooper recorded 20 kills. Senior Corre Myer added 44 assists. The Bears lost the first games, but returned in the second to prevail 30-21, but did not have enough to secure a victory in the final two games.

In the second contest of the day, the Bears took five games to overcome St Peter's College. Brown fell in the first and third games, but came back in the fourth to tie the score at two games each, forcing a deciding fifth game. Schneider and Cooper pounded home 25 and 21 kills, respectively. Schneider added 16 digs to her totals for the night. Myer tallied 63 assists and 15 digs. Aneal Helms and Angela Dunn each recorded 12 kills.

On Saturday, the Bears took on the University of Connecticut Huskies, but fell in three games, (15-30, 24-30, 24-30). Diane Schneider led the team, totaling eight kills and 10 digs.

At the conclusion of the Invitational, Jessie Cooper received All-Tournament Team honors.

The team returns to action on Friday October 5, to host the Brown Invitational.
