Volleyball Falls to New Hampshire, 3-1, in First Match of Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Bears dropped their first match of the Brown Invitational to New Hampshire, 3-1 (30-24, 30-27, 29-31, 30-26) in a hard-fought battle in the Pizzitola Sports Center Friday night, September 26th.

Sophomore Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) led the Bears with 16 kills and a .325 hitting percentage, while freshman Liz Cvitan (Malibu, CA) and sophomore Karalyn Kuchenbecker (Los Angeles, CA) each added 11 kills. Cvitan posted a .474 hitting percentage to lead the way, while freshman Shawn Tulac (Claremont, CA) and sophomore Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) each notched a .400 hitting percentage.

Kuchenbecker posted her third double-double of the season with 13 digs, while senior Kim Highlund (Newark, CA) led the Brown defense with 15 digs and junior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) added 11 digs.

The Bears also had a strong blocking game, and were led by freshman Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) who notched 1 solo block and 2 block assists. Gibbs also tallied two block assists.

Brown will be back in action tomorrow, hosting St. Peter's in the Bears' second match of the Brown Invitational.
