Providence, RI - In its first match at the UAlbany Classic, the Brown volleyball team (1-3) dropped a 3-0 decision to Northeastern (6-6) on Friday. After dropping the first game 30-17, the Bears held a lead as big as 15-8 in game two. However, the Huskies roared back to tie the game 18-18, and after taking a 31-29 win, rolled 30-20 to close out the match.
Freshman outside hitter Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) led the Bears in kills for the fourth time, finishing with 10 in the three games. Junior setter Natalie Meyers (Seal Beach, CA) had 22 assists, and also led Brown with 11 digs. Freshman middle blocker Danielle Vaughan (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) had a solid game up front, finishing with five blocks, three solo, while senior middle blocker Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) and junior right-side hitter Lillie Cohn (Seattle, WA) had three total blocks apiece.
The Bears continue play at the UAlbany Classic on Saturday, taking on Eastern Michigan at 10 a.m. and host Albany at 3 p.m.
