Washington, D.C. - The Brown volleyball team (3-0) won again Saturday afternoon, as they swept St. Francis (N.Y.) to maintain a perfect record at the Georgetown Invitational. Junior Liz Mueller (San Francisco, C.A.) had a breakout game, shattering her career high with eight kills and adding a service ace and three digs.
The Bears started out strong, running out to an 11-3 lead en route to taking the first game by a score of 25-15. St. Francis made a strong push in the second game, however, taking a 20-11 lead. Brown refused to quit though, and responded by taking six consecutive points before coming all the way back for a 25-23 win. Having lost their second set momentum, St. Francis went quietly in the final game, falling 25-8.
Sophomore Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) also had a strong outing, recording seven kills and a .600 hitting percentage in the only game that she played, while senior captain Natalie Meyers (Seal Beach, CA) also appeared only once, chipping in a team-high 15 assists. Freshman Annika Gliottone (Warwick, R.I.) continued her strong defensive play, leading the squad with 11 digs.
The Bears will be in action again Saturday night as they take on host Georgetown at 7:30 p.m.
