Volleyball Falls to UC Davis 3-1, in Second Match of UC Davis Invitational

Davis, CA - The Brown volleyball team (0-2) dropped its second match of the UC Davis Invitational, falling 3-1 (27-30, 30-26, 26-30, 25-30) to host UC Davis. Senior Elvina Kung (Half Hallow Hills W/Dix Hills, NY) broke the all-time digs record in a match, posting 38 in this afternoons match. The previous record was held by Cathy Luke, with 34 digs against Harvard in 1994.

Katie Lapinski (Maine South/Niles, IL) led Brown offensively with 20 kills, while junior Lauren Gibbs (Westridge/Los Angeles, CA) added 12 kills.

Sophomore Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia/Magnolia, TX) and Leigh Martin (Parkside/Freellton, ONT) recorded their first double-double of the season. Martin directed the offense with 49 assists and posted 12 digs, while Baldwin knocked down 13 kills and added 10 digs to the Bears' loss this afternoon.

The Bears will be back in action later this evening when they finish competition at the Invitational against Nevada at 5:00 (PT).
