Durham, NH - The Brown University volleyball team racked up its first victory of the season in an exciting five game defeat over the University of New Hampshire.
Brown (1-0) was unstoppable during the first two games while capturing the first game 30-24 and the second 30-25 before the Wildcats stole game three (30-23) and four (32-30). The fifth game came down to the wire as each team battled back and forth, but the Bears were able overcome the Wildacts 15-10 to take the game.
Sophomore Natalie Meyers (Huntington Beach, CA) led Brown's offense as she handed out 47 assists to three Brown hitters who each recorded double digit kills. Senior Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) recorded a match-high 20 kills. Senior Shawn-Elyse Tulac (Claremont, CA) had 18 and Lillie Cohn (Seattle, WA) finished with 10 kills for a match-high .429 percent.
Defensively, junior Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) recorded 21 digs as Meyers followed behind with16 and Baldwin also helped Brown's defense by posting 13 digs.
Brown will face the University of Texas at San Antonio at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the University of New Hampshire.
