The 2006 season is the sixth season John Forman has been with the Brown University volleyball program. He joined the staff in 2001, serving as the Second Assistant coach, and was named the team's First Assistant in April of 2002. During his first season with the Bears, Forman was instrumental in helping guide Brown to its third Ivy League Title in six years as the team's primary setting coach. Forman came to Brown from the University of Rhode Island, where he was an assistant coach during the 2000 season. While at URI, Forman helped organize training sessions; assisted in recruiting; and handled all aspects regarding home game management. Previously, he served as the assistant coach for two seasons at Dean College in Franklin, Mass. During that time the team posted a 32-9 overall record and garnered seven All-Region player selections. Dean won its first ever Regional Championship in 1999 on the back of an undefeated league campaign. The team was also named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for 1998-1999. In 1998 Forman coached the Southeast Boys' Scholastic team in the Summer Bay State Games, where he led the squad to a gold medal. He has also been active in coaching club volleyball and in the administration of Juniors volleyball in the New England Region. He co-founded the RI Blast Junior Volleyball Club with Brown Head Coach Diane Short in 2001 after helping form Rhode Island Juniors with the University of Rhode Island coaching staff the prior year. A 1993 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Forman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. During his time at URI, he was a member of the Men's Club volleyball team. Forman then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 1997. In April of this year, Forman published his first book - The Essentials of Trading, which became an Amazon Top Seller shortly after its release. He was a professional market analyst prior to making the move to coaching and has remained active in the markets since. Over the last few years he has been involved in teaching trading at the university level, with The Essentials of Trading evolving from that work. A native of North Kingstown, RI, Forman resides in North Providence.
