PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior outside hitter Thea Derrough (La Jolla, Calif.) earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors to become the first Brown volleyball player to take home the weekly award since Kathryn Glickman on Sep. 28, 2010. Derrough shared the nod as the league's top performer with Yale sophomore Jesse Ebner and was joined by freshman Payton Smith (Atherton, Cailf.), who landed on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll.
Derrough hit .328 last week as the Bears went 2-1 at the Temple Invitational. Derrough was steady throughout with 28 kills and seven blocks, including a 10-kill, six-block outing in a win over Delaware State. Smith followed with 22 kills and a .319 hitting percentage over three matches while controlling the net with 13 blocks.
The Bears open Ivy League play on Saturday, Sep. 28, when Brown heads to defending Ivy League champion and NCAA Tournament participant Yale for a 5 p.m. contest.
