Brown Falls at Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Despite a match-high 10 kills from rookie middle hitter Taylor Bantle (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), Brown was topped 3-0 (23-25, 20-25, 21-25). The Bears were narrowly edged in the first set, and scored at least 20 points in each frame, but could not overcome the Big Green in their second-to-last match of the season.

Brown lead early at 5-4 but Dartmouth sprinted ahead to hold a 16-13 lead. The Bears tied it up at 18-al, but the Big Green went on a 6-2 run to reach match point. Brown took a timeout and scored two points capped by a kill by Bantle, but Dartmouth took the next point to take a 1-0 lead.

Dartmouth entire second set, holding a late 21-15 lead, but a 4-0 run keyed by a kill from Bantle and two Maddie Lord (La Jolla, Calif.) service aces brought the Bears back into the game, before the Big Green used a 5-2 run to close out the set.

The third set was tightly contested as Brown was within two after a 3-0 run at 21-16. The Bears go three straight kills from Brittany Link (Hinckley, Ohio) and Kathryn Glickman (San Francisco, Calif.). It was Dartmouth which reached match point first and after a kill from  Savannah Holte (Laguna Beach, Calif.), the Big Green closed out the match with a 25-21 win.

Brown had two players with double-digit digs in senior libero Annika Gliottone (Warwick, R.I.) and  Thea Derrough (La Jolla, Calif.).
