PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On senior night at the last home game of the 2010 volleyball season, the old and the new were on showcase. The Bears picked up their second Ivy League victory as the beat Dartmouth for the second time this season in four sets (23-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17).
Senior Danielle Vaughan (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), Brianna Williamson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Megan Toman (Newport Beach, Calif.) all played in their final home games and each put up impressive stat lines.
Vaughan posted 10 kills and a .364 hitting percentage to go a long with six blocks. The middle hitter is third-all time in blocks at Brown. Williamson once again proved her versatility as she registered eight kills an assist, 17 digs and two blocks. Toman finished the day with nine kills, seven digs and three service aces.
The youth of the Bears also showcased their skills against Dartmouth. Sophomore Katrina Post (Pasadena, Calif.) had a game-high 17 kills in a double-double performance (13 digs). Freshman Alexandra Rieckhoff (Laguna Beach, Calif.) proved she is the setter of the future with 50 assists in just four games. The rookie also had a double-double with 13 digs while chipping in two kills and three blocks.
Sophomore Kathryn Glickman (San Francisco, Calif.) was impressive near the net for the Bears, recording eight kills on 15 attacks for a .533 hitting percentage. Junior Annika Gliottone (Warwick, R.I.) anchored the defense yet again as she tallied 26 digs and displayed a strong serve with four service aces.
Brown concludes its 2010 season this weekend when the team travels to Cornell and Columbia.
