Hanover, N.H. – Brown (7-12, 1-6) picked up its first Ivy League victory of the year at Dartmouth (12-6, 3-4) on Friday night on the strength of a game-high 17 kills from senior Brianna Williamson (Cincinnati, Ohio). Williamson finished the match with a double-double, registering 10 digs while also chipping in four assist, and three blocks in the 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-17, 26-24) victory.
Freshman Emma Pastore (Los Angeles, Calif.) made it six-straight games with double-digit kills as the rookie racked up 11 against Dartmouth. Classmate Alexandra Reickhoff (Laguna Beach, Calif.) hit 50 assists for the fourth time in her young career. It is the sixth game in a row she has tallied over 40 assists in a game.
Brown came out strong, holding the Big Green to just 18 points in the first set to take a quick 1-0 advantadge. Dartmouth was able to regroup on their home floor, and took the second set 25-19.
With the score tied at one, the Bears were able to grab the momentum by playing extremely well defensively, holding the Big Green to 17 points in the frame. Dartmouth fought back, in the fourth set as both teams were deadlocked at 24-all, but the Brown offense stepped up when it needed to, taking the set 26-24.
Senior Megan Toman (Newport Beach, Calif.) also stepped up in a big way for the Bears, putting away 11 kills while also recording three service aces.
