Despite some solid defense, including double-digit digs from four different players, Brown lost a 3-1 contest at Columbia on Friday night, as the Lions took three straight sets after losing the opener. With the loss, Brown falls to 4-11 overall and 0-4 in the Ivy League, while Columbia improves to 11-7 on the season and 2-3 in league play.
Bruno came out playing well, taking a close 25-23 decision in the first set for an early 1-0 match lead. However, the Lions came storming back over the next three sets, taking three straight wins by margins of 25-21, 21-15, and 21-17 for a comeback win.
Junior Brianna Williamson led the Brown attack, notching a team-high 12 kills to go with nine digs and two assists. Defensively, rookie Carly Cotton paced the squad, with 18 digs, while fellow freshman Christina Berry and senior Kim Bundick added 14 and 13 respectively. Berry also had seven kills and a block assist.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to Ithaca to take on Cornell at 4:00 p.m.
