Bears Compete at Pre-Nationals Meet

Terre Haute, IN - The women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Pre-Nationals Meet this morning. The race was hosted by Indiana State University at the LaVern Gibson Course and consisted of three separate heats. The Bears competed in the "Blue" heat where they placed 28th in a field of 36 teams with a total of 668 points. Fellow Ivies in the Blue race included Princeton who placed 9th with 336 points, and Yale who placed 22nd with 546 points.

Junior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) ran the 6 km course in 21:29, placing first for the Bears and 79th overall. Freshman Jenna Ridgway (Santa Barbara, CA) was next, finishing in 108th with a 21:44 effort. Senior Naja Ferjan (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and junior Nora Sullivan (Cambridge, MA) finished 3rd and fourth for Brown, placing 141st and 164th, respectively. Freshman Brooke Giuffre (Carlsbad, CA) filled the last scoring position for Brown in 176th place.

Brown will be competing next at the Heptagonal Championship Meet on Friday, October 27 in Van Cortlandt Park, NY.
