Harriers Place Tenth in Field of Forty-Six at New England Championships

Boston, MA - The women's cross country team competed at the New England Championship meet today at Franklin Park in Boston. Brown placed tenth in the varsity race with 344 points; Boston University won with 126 points. In the sub-varsity race, Brown placed seventh with 206 points.

Junior Nora Sullivan (Cambridge, MA) placed first for Brown and 44th overall in the varsity race, completing the course in 18:35. Juniors Becky Crossin (Annandale, NJ) and Alex Brown (Kingston, NY) finished together in 18:55 taking 63rd, and 64th places. Senior Madeleine Marecki (Morris, CT) and freshman Emily Bourdeau (Longmeadow, MA) also finished together in 86th (19:07) and 87th (19:08), respectively.

In the sub-varsity race, the women also finished close together with the first four Bears finishing within a six second time frame. Freshman Sydney Scott (Kennett Square, PA) placed first for Brown and 38th overall in 19:52. Freshman Laura Armstrong (Louisville, KY) and sophomore Kat D'Auria (Norwich, CT) were next in 42nd and 43rd. Junior Hannah Nichols (Hinesburg, VT) and sophomore Monika Najselova (Ziar nad Hronom, Slovakia) filled the remaining scoring positions in 49th and 76th, respectively.

Those who sat out today will be competing at the Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday, October 14, while others will look to compete again next at the Mayor's Cup on Sunday, October 22 back at Franklin Park.
