Randall's Island, NY - Senior Anna Willard took part in the NYRR Night At The Races event at Icahn Stadium in Randall's Island, New York last week, setting the school record with a time of 4:18.90 in the 1500 meters. Willard already owns the top times in school history in the 800 meters, 3,000 meter steeplechase and 5,000 meters. This Wednesday night she will go for the Brown record in the 3,000 meters, again at Icahn Stadium.
Willard placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, California earning her All-American honors for the outdoor season. She also reached All-American status during the indoor season as part of the distance medley relay team.
"Anna is definitely the top women's distance runner in the history of the program," says Head Coach Craig Lake. "If she runs under 9:29 on Wednesday she will hold all the school records from the 800 meters up to the 5k."
With one year of NCAA eligibility left, Willard will make the decision next week of where she will be competing next year as a graduate student.
