Gupta Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Providence, RI - Senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) has been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District in track & field. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Gupta, a Human Biology Concentrator with a 3.59 grade point average, was named to the University Division Second Team. Gupta earned First Team All-Ivy in cross-country after finishing in sixth place at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships. Her time of 17:46.5 is the fourth fastest time in Brown history. She also earned Academic All-Ivy honors in the fall, and was named to the USTFCCA All-Academic team while finishing seventh overall at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet to qualify for Nationals (20:54). Gupta placed 69th overall at NCAA National Championships (21:20).

During the winter, Gupta received second Team All-Ivy honors in indoor track & field in the 3,000m, placing fourth (9:46.49) to qualify for the ECAC Championships. Gupta helped the outdoor track & field squad to a third-place finish at the outdoor Ivy Championships and qualified for both the ECAC's and NCAA Regionals in the 1,500m.
