Providence, RI - After placing second at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Sunday, six members of the women's track & field team and one member of the men's track & field squad received All-Ivy honors. Junior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) and freshman Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA) were named to First Team, while Burns, freshman Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC), senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK), freshman Grace Watson (Belmont, WA) and sophomore Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) received Second Team All-Ivy honors. For the men, junior David Howard (Columbia, MD) earned First Team All-Ivy.
Burns earned First Team All-Ivy in the 400-meter dash, and Smith received First Team recognition in the pentathlon. Burns' swift 55.78 seconds in the 400-meter dash earned first place at Heps, while she also came in second place in the 200m (25.00) to earns Second Team All-Ivy honors.
Smith earned the pentathlon title after first place finishes in the high jump (5-08.00) and shot put (35-04.50), second in the 60m hurdles (9.06), fourth in the 800m (2:26.77), and fifth in the long jump (16-08.75).
Adelberg placed second in the 800m run in (2:11.52) earning Second Team All-Ivy honors. Joining her was Gupta in the 3,000m run (9:45.06), Watson in the high jump (5-08.00), and last but certainly not least, Grunloh in the shot put (47-06.50).
On the men's side, Howard was the only Brown athlete to receive All-Ivy recognition. He earned First Team All-Ivy honors after he claimed the shot put title on Sunday with a 56-08.00.
