Women Compete at NCAA Regionals

New York, NY-- Qualifiers from the women's track and field team headed south to New York this weekend to compete at the NCAA East Regional Championships. The Brown women put forth solid efforts but were unable to score. The competitors faced stormy conditions during the second half of the meet on Saturday, as the women's seeded steeplechase was delayed for nearly two hours.
Freshman Sarah Groothuis (Aurora, NE) placed 17th in the discus with a throw of 43.7m/143'4".
Senior Ashley Wall (Ellicott City, MD) placed 14th in the high jump (1.71m/5'7.25").
Junior Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) finished 11th in the triple jump (12.62m/41'5").
Sophomore Naja Ferjan (Ljubljana, Slovenia) DNF'd in the second qualifying heat of the 800m.
Junior Anna Willard (Greenwood, ME) finished 16th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:37.36, two seconds off her personal record.
The regional meet concludes the outdoor season for the women's track and field team.
