Women's Track & Field Concludes ECAC Championships at Princeton

Providence, RI - The Brown women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the ECAC Championships hosted by Princeton University this afternoon. Brown's top finishers were sophomore Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) in the discus, and freshman Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC) in the 800-meter run.

While Adelberg turned in a 2:10.51 in the 800 for fifth place, senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) registered a 17:09.62 for an eighth place finish in the 5,000m. Freshman Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) gave a good effort in the 1,500m preliminaries with a 4:32.34, but didn't make it to the finals.

Senior Akilah King (Medford, MA) competed in the triple jump, leaping a 39-09.25 for 11th place. Freshman Brynn Smith (Sace, ME) arnered seventh place with a throw of 46-02.50 in the shot put, while earned Brown's highest finish of the day, fourth, with an NCAA Regional Qualifying throw of a 49.36 in the discus.

Junior Molly Hawksley (Rumford, RI) turned in a 10th place effort in the hammer throw, tossing a 168-08. Freshman Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA) posted a 121-00 in the javelin throw to place 20th.

Up next, five individuals will be competing in the NCAA Regionals on May 30-31. Adelberg will be competing in the 800m, Gupta in the 1,500m, Grunloh in both the discus and shot put, junior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) in the 400m, and Brynn Smith in the shot put.
