Due to final exams, the Brown men's and women's track and field teams were represented by a small group of athletes at the IC4A/ECAC Track & Field Championships. The IC4A/ECAC includes all the east coast schools from Maine through Virginia and some North Carolina schools. Despite the small group competing for Brown, the results were successful.
Jill Lynch finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 46' and had three other throws over 45'. That is the best series of throws she has ever had in her career. Laura Dudek took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 140'8". Finally in the field, Dominique Bosa-Edwards jumped 38'4" in the triple jump, her second week in a row over 38'.
On the track, Naja Ferjan placed fifth in the 800 meters. Senior Lauren Linder finished sixth in the 100 meter dash. In the semi-finals, she ran her best time ever of 11.92.
Finally, on the men's side, Daveed Diggs took sixth in the 110 meter high hurdles. All five athletes earned All-East honors for their performances.
Lynch, Ferjan, and Dudek, along with Katie Rowinski in the high jump will respresent the women's team at the NCAA Regional Championships in Gainesville, FL May 28 and 29. On the men's side, Ray Bobrownicki (high jump), Jeff Gaudette (5000) and Brendan O'Keefe (1500) will compete at the Regional meet. The top five finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Championships two weeks later.
