Women's Track Takes Fourth at Heps with Two Individual Winners

New Haven, CT - The Brown women's track team placed fourth at the 2003 Outdoor Heptagonal Championship with 71 points. Cornell took first, as it swept both the indoor and outdoor Heps this season, with a total of 191.50 points, well ahead of second place finisher Yale with 136.50 points. Rounding out the top three was Harvard with 90 points.

The individual winners for Brown were junior Katie Rowinski (South Kingstown, RI), who won the high jump with a leap of 5'09.25" and senior Lauren Contursi (Flemington, NJ) ) won the pole vault title as she cleared 12'00.00".

Several members of the team turned in second and third place finishes. Sophomore Jill Lynch (Racine, WI) was edged out by just two ½ inches in the shot put. Lynch placed second with a throw of 46'04.00", over two feet longer then the third place finisher.

Sophomore Jaylon White (St. Louis Park, MN) took third place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.87 and also took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.39. Senior Keely Tharp (Roberts, WI) placed third in the 400 meter hurdles, timing in at 1:00.95.

The 4x100 meter relay squad of White, sophomore Fara Kitton (Bellmore, NY), junior Julia Stevenson (Detroit, MI) and sophomore Alexis Hall (Glavenstone, TX) also placed third with a time of 47.10.
